The Monessen ventless gas fireplaces range from 22,000 to 38,000 BTU'S, and will heat an area from 700 to 1300 square feet. Ventless is a nice option in most cases as a secondary heat source in an area where you are trying to add additional heat. If you are building a new home or adding on to your existing home I would recommend a vented fireplace. The reason is a new build will be well insulated trapping the moisture from the gas burning fireplace inside the home and lessening the time it can be used. Often times rooms that are added on to the existing home tend to be much cooler and might require heating beyond the 4 to 6 hour window that is recommended for a ventless gas product.
